PHYSIOLOGY & BIOPHYSICS AT DALHOUSIE

Physiology, the study of the function of biological systems, spans all levels of organization from the molecular and cellular to integrated whole organism physiology.

The Department has three major areas of research concentration: neurophysiology, cardiovascular physiology and cellular and molecular physiology. Investigators in the department utilize state-of-the-art techniques of molecular biology, imaging, electrophysiology, neurochemistry and computational modeling to investigate the mechanisms and integration of cellular functions in complex tissues, organs and systems.

With 30 full-time, part-time and cross-appointed faculty, the Department offers a diverse research environment with many opportunities for scientific interaction and training. We are committed to excellence and leadership in biomedical research and teaching.

The Department of Physiology and Biophysics is located on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors of the Sir Charles Tupper Medical Building. The main entrance is on College Street. The administrative office is on the 3rd floor.
